Spring is finally here! I’m excited to see all the flowers and the beautiful colors!! The grass in the field that’s across from my house looks like turf grass! It’s unbelievably green that it completely looks fake but i can vouch for them and say that its completely natural! The flowers are blooming and its kind of making me want to plant a garden! Enjoy the beauties this world has to offer! It is absolutely mind blowing how stunning it is!
Have you ever noticed the amount of money that professional athletes make? Have you ever wondered why someone would turn down 5 million dollars a year to play a sport? If you haven’t heard then they were clearly talking to you when the words, ‘have you been living under a rock?’ were said. Now I have a brother who is a huge fan of the New England Patriots and during this off season, quarterback Tom Brady took a pay cut and is now being paid a reportedly nine million dollars a year. WOW! NINE MILLION. Wes Welker another one of my brothers favorite players denied a five million dollar deal with the Patriots to take a six million deal with the Denver Broncos. Now its almost been a week since the trade has occurred and my brother is still upset about it. Why? Because he refuses to believe that it was about the money. Now it’s common that we find money being thrown around like its nothing in professional sports but the crazy thing about it, is the fact that we forget that they’re talking about MILLIONS. Not a mere hundred or thousand but millions. I guess we really cant deny that this is no longer about football. This is strictly business.
Sporting events have been around for centuries and it has become something that everyone all around the world has a love for. Whether its baseball, basketball or football (both American and European), it is something that people use to escape their reality for a few hours. Lastnight the Miami Heats faced the Boston Celtics with hopes to improve their 22-0 win streak. The Celtics already with a history of destroying a 22 game with streak with the Huston Rockets a few years prior looked confident to repeat history. With the game tied at 103 at under 11 seconds left in regulation, the Heats’ Lebron James’ hit a jumper to give Boston the ball back, leaving them with a 2 point advantage over Boston. This is the moment where sports fans all over the world live for. That nail biting end and hoping that whatever team you’re rooting for comes out victorious or ties it up so our nails can suffer just a little bit longer. We live for these things. We watch so we can spend 20 minutes the next day talking with our friends for it. We watch it so we dont look like complete idiots for missing such a highly anticipated event. We watch it because we love it. Unfortunately for my brother, his Celtics failed to answer to James’ late game shot and lost 103-105. The Heats went on to hold the record for the second longest win streak in National Basketball Association behind the Los Angels Lakers’ streak of 33 in the ‘71-72 season. For the most part, we grew up with a parent, friend or even a stranger that you see on the streets, that praised a sport franchise like theres no tomorrow. They do it to escape their reality. To spend just a few hours to root for something bigger than yourself and to feel like your a part of something. Find something a root for it. Get involved in something bigger than yourself and you will love it.
Have you ever had the urge to just dance but were afraid of the judgement of passing strangers? Well shun the uptight ways of society and be free to express yourself in a crazy yet modest manner! Appreciate the beauty of nature around because with the right preception, even a dried up desert can be blinding beautiful.
